Material Structure

Cellular polycarbonate is produced through an extrusion process, during which polycarbonate resin is pressed through specially designed nozzles to create cellular structures. These multi-layer panels consist of an inner partition divided into air chambers. These chambers can have various shapes, such as rectangular or hexagonal, which further affect the material's insulating properties. The thickness of the panels, their shape, and the size of the chambers can be adjusted to specific needs.

Properties

Thermal insulation: The cellular structure of polycarbonate provides excellent thermal insulation, surpassing traditional glass or acrylic materials. The thermal transmittance values (U) for cellular polycarbonate are significantly lower compared to other materials, resulting in better energy efficiency for buildings.

Light transmission: Despite its high thermal insulation, cellular polycarbonate retains excellent light transmission, which is important in applications where natural lighting is required. The ability to modulate the degree of light transmission by manipulating the thickness of the walls and the structure of the chambers allows for wide material applications.

Impact resistance: Polycarbonate is known for its exceptional impact resistance, far exceeding the strength of glass and other construction materials. The cellular structure further absorbs and dissipates impact energy, making it ideal for applications requiring high resistance to vandalism or extreme weather conditions.

Lightweight: Compared to materials with similar optical and thermal properties, cellular polycarbonate is significantly lighter, which facilitates transport, handling, and installation, as well as reduces the structural load on buildings.

Weather resistance: Cellular polycarbonate is resistant to UV radiation, temperature, and other atmospheric factors, maintaining its properties over time without frequent replacement or maintenance.
